Business SegmentOperations and Technical ServicesResponsibilitiesNBCUniversal is building a new technical operation which will serve as the primary DR for all NBCUniversal networks, host the TV Everywhere streaming operations, and provide media prep services for the International Operations. This NBCUniversal operation will be located in Centennial, Colorado. Development of the facility is underway and will reach operational readiness in mid-2013. The Senior Post Production Engineer will be responsible for media operations and post production systems supporting this NBCUniversal operation. The successful candidate will be tasked with rolling out and commissioning several systems including a central editing system, a variety of transcode systems, a central SAN, and file acceleration systems. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: • Maintaining a high degree of personal expertise in Digital Editing, Storage, Transcoding and File Analysis & Delivery Acceleration System • Providing level 2 support to internal teams who are tasked with maintaining these systems including 24x7 on-call support • Providing training and documentation of systems and support procedures to be utilized by the larger engineering and operations teams at the facility • Leading investigations of issues within Media Operations and Post Production Systems and their integration points to identify systematic issues and root causes • Leading follow up with vendors to resolve system issues and drive future development • Managing the testing and deployment of software patches and upgrades in the production environment • Working with Engineering and Operations partners to develop strategy for system enhancements and growth • Managinge implementation and configuration of additions to Media Operations systems • Reporting current status of systems and on-going projectQualifications/RequirementsBS in Engineering or Computer Science or equivalent professional experience • 5+ years experience in AVID Media Manager/Interplay/ISIS Administration, setup and support • 5+ years experience as hands-on engineer in Production and/or Broadcast environment • 3+ years experience with Window Server build, configuration and Database Setup • 3+ years experience in SAN, H/A disk arrays, NAS & LTO technology • 3+ Experience in MAC O/S and Final Cut system setup and support • 3+ years in project management. With proven track record of managing within timeline and budget • 3+ years experience with Transcoding and new media technology • Strong understanding of user and system support, infrastructure devices, video/audio cabling • Working knowledge and understanding of Network Infrastructure, DNS, switches, routers & firewalls • Understanding of broadcast automation technology • Proficient in MS Office a must, and a working knowledge of AutoDesk AutoCAD software • Excellent Troubleshooting skills • Excellent verbal and documentation skills • Flexibility with regard to schedule; ability to work a rotating shift schedule including after hours and weekends as required Eligibility Requirements: • Interested candidate must submit a resume/CV through NBC UNIVERSAL CAREERS to be considered • Must be willing to work in the greater Denver, CO area • Must be willing to take a drug test and submit to a background investigation • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States • Must be 18 years or older • Must be able to bend, climb and lift equipment and packages weighing up to 70 poundsDesired Characteristics NBC Universal is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer promoting diversity in the workplace.
